Few days after proposing to actress Annie Macaulay, his long standing sweetheart and mother to one of his five children, R&B star, Tu Face Idibia quietly left the country last Wednesday night for the United States in a manner that was shrouded in mystery.
But his publicist, Bayo Omisere was quick to explain in a telephone chat with Showtime that Tuface’s sudden departure to America has nothing to do with the story making the rounds that he may have escaped abroad to avoid the media hype.
According to him, “whatever happened between Tuface and Annie was done in public, so why should he run away? The America trip had been arranged long before this whole incident and drama unfolded. He is gone to Americato finish the recording of his new album”
The Benue State-born crooner shocked his fans last Tuesday night when he proposed to Annie Macauley. Surprisingly, it was on Valentine’s Day, and Annie could not believe her eyes as she was overwhelmed by emotions. The venue of the ritual was Club 10, Victoria Island, Lagos, which is owned by former Super Eagles captain, Austin J.J. Okocha.
Annie and her friends had walked into the club unsuspicious of what Tuface was cooking up after he invited them for the special Valentine’s surprise party.
Still wondering why he extended the invitation, ‘Tu Baba’ as he is fondly called, walked onto the stage and talked about the love, he almost lost. He called Annie to join him and while kneeling on one knee, he asked Annie to marry him.
Those who witnessed the long overdue “love-drama” said when Tuface made the proposal, Annie apparently could not control her emotions as she shed tears of joy, cuddling the music star. She later tweeted on her Twitter “OMG (Oh My God) the love of my life just proposed to me.” She also tweeted, saying that “I’m serving a living God…”
It would be recalled that the romance between Tuface and Annie had been on for more than ten years and just two years ago, she had a daughter named Isabel for him.Tuface has four other kids, two each from Sumbo Ajaba and Pero Adeniyi respectively.
Few weeks back, news spread like wild fire that Tuface was expecting his sixth child, after getting Pero, the mother to two of his children pregnant the third time.
Since his relationship with Pero, Annie and Sumbo started, many fans of Tuface had been wondering whom he would eventually take home as a wife.
That riddle may have been resolved. Annie Macaulay was one of the ladies that starred in Tuface’s award-winning music video, African Queen. She started her acting career some years back after emerging as one of the runners-up in Sola Fajobi’s organised TV reality show, Next Movie Star.
